Republic of Belarus in the Global Innovation Index 2021

On September 20, 2021, the World Intellectual Property Organization, INSEAD and Cornell SC Johnson College of Business presented the Global Innovation Index 2021 report, containing the results of a comparative analysis of the innovation systems of 132 countries and their ranking by the level of innovative development.

The Republic of Belarus ranked 62nd place in the 2021 Global Innovation Index, improving by 2 positions.

According to the indicators «Mobile app creation» and «Females employed w/advanced degrees» Belarus took 1st place. High results are also demonstrated in such indicators as «ISO 9001 quality certificates» — 3rd place, «Government funding/pupil, secondary» — 5th place, «Tertiary education» — 7th place.

As well, the rating notes 8 more indicators that have reached a high value and have a significant impact on the development of the economy of the Republic of Belarus: «ICT services exports» and «Graduates in science and engineering» — 11th place; «Tertiary enrolment» — 12th place; «ICT access», «Education», «Utility models by origin» — 16th place; «Pupil-teacher ratio, secondary» — 17th place.

The main purpose of the global innovation tool is to provide innovation data that helps countries assess their innovation performance. The development and implementation of innovations makes a great contribution to the achievement of Belarus Sustainable Development Goals 9, 11 and other SDGs.
