On June 27–28, 2024, strategic sessions on the development of the regional sustainable development strategy of the Gomel region were held in Gomel.
The event was attended by 75 people, of which 39% were women. Among the participants were representatives of the Gomel regional and district executive committees, state and public organizations, educational institutions, enterprises, banking organizations, and businesses.
In the discussion format in small groups, the participants of the session “Workshop of the Future” formed a vision for the Gomel region by 2040. Participants see the Gomel region as:
Among the main directions of development of the Gomel region until 2040, the participants highlighted the development of industrial potential and logistics infrastructure, increasing the environmental safety of the region, improving the material well-being of the population and developing social infrastructure, promotion of applied sciences and specialized education for the needs of the region (for chemical and mechanical engineering enterprises), increasing the digital potential of the population and industrial enterprises.
Strategic sessions on the development of the regional sustainable development strategy of the Gomel region was organized by the Gomel Regional Executive Committee with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Belarus within the framework of the Joint Project “Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs”, funded by the Russian Federation.
