Support for families with children is an important component of state family policy in the Republic of Belarus. Annually, on the eve of the new school year, a campaign to help in preparing children for school is held in Belarus.
As part of the state program “People’s Health and Demographic Security” for 2021-2025, low-income and large families are provided with financial support through one-time financial assistance and state targeted social assistance. Employees raising schoolchildren can receive assistance at work.
Also, in order to prepare children for school, in July–August, charity events and fairs “School bag”, “Get your child ready for school”, “Go to school with a smile”, “First-grader’s Bag” and others, organized by territorial centers of social services for the population, charitable foundations and public associations, are held throughout the country. As part of charity events, assistance is provided in the form of stationery, children’s clothing and shoes for orphans, children without parental care, children with disabilities, children from low-income, single-parent, large families, children at risk.
Providing support in preparing children for the school year contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, 10 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
