The employment rate of the working-age population is 84.2% in Belarus

In Belarus, issues in the field of promoting employment and labor protection are carried out through the implementation of activities of the State Program “Labor Market and Employment Promotion” for 2021-2025.
According to a sample survey by the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, in the first half of 2024, the employment rate of the working-age population was 84.2%, and the unemployment rate was 3% (0.4% less than in the same period in 2023) with the consolidated target indicator of the State Program of 4.2%. Particularly, among women of working age, the employment and unemployment rates are 85.3% and 2.7%, while among men they are 83.3% and 3.3%.
In January-June 2024, the State Employment Service provided:
- assistance was provided in finding employment for 66.5 thousand people;
- temporary employment was provided to 28.2 thousand schoolchildren, pupils and students in their free time;
- 1.1 thousand unemployed people were sent for training, 89.2% of whom were guaranteed subsequent employment;
- 885 “road maps” were concluded with employers;
- 325 “enterprise days” and more than 1.3 thousand job fairs were held, including 471 electronic ones;
- about 10.8 million visits to the job bank were recorded for quick and targeted job searches.
Ensuring full and effective employment of the population makes an important contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 8 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
