The fifth edition of the Red Book of Belarus will be published in 2025

On August 20, 2024, a press conference on the topic: “The Red Book – an effective mechanism for protecting rare and endangered species. Work on the 5th edition” was held in Minsk.

Publication of the 5th edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus is planned for 2025. Currently, an analysis of data from monitoring of flora and fauna, state cadastres of flora and fauna, scientific and other research over the past 10 years is being conducted. On the results of this work:

• the lists of rare and endangered species of wild animals and wild plants in the country will be updated;
• the layout of the fifth edition of the Red Book of Belarus “Plants” and “Animals” with essays on species will be prepared.

Updating information on the current state of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna makes an important contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 13, 14, 15 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
