The introduction of digital tools improves the quality and efficiency of statistics

Statistical data reflect economic, environmental, social processes and are indicators on the basis of which management decisions are made at all levels.

In 2023, the following results were achieved in the development of Belarusian statistics:

• amendments to the Law «On State Statistics» came into force;
• the boundaries of the digital economy have been expanded – individual indicators of digital trade were calculated;
• modern IT technologies and digital tools were introduced;
• changes were made to the information and logical model of the Unified Information System of State Statistics;
• the reporting burden on respondents was reduced – the «one input – many outputs» principle was implemented, in which data within the system will be used to generate a variety of statistical information;
• two new platforms were developed: the Regional Platform for the Sustainable Development Goals and the Geostatistical Portal, etc.

In 2024, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus will continue to improve the system for collecting and distributing data and the methodology for obtaining statistical information. It is planned to introduce innovations in the system of national accounts, statistics on the standard of living of the population, foreign investments, finances of organizations, prices, the environment, and demographic statistics.

Providing reliable and up-to-date information makes an important contribution to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
