The Ministry of Education has approved the optional course “Discovery Laboratory” for primary school

In order to deepen students’ knowledge of the world around them and to develop their interest in studying natural sciences, the optional curriculum “Discovery Laboratory” was approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus dated July 26, 2024 No. 95.

The curriculum will last for 34 hours and is intended for the first or second grades of educational institutions implementing general secondary education programs.  Physics teachers may be involved in conducting classes. The forms and methods of education will be selected in accordance with age.

During the classes, students will become familiar with the elements of the science “Physics”, learn to analyze and understand the physical nature of the surrounding phenomena. Having mastered the content of the educational material, schoolchildren will be able to conduct observations and simple experiments, put forward hypotheses and predict results, and will also be able to take part in research work, distribute roles, negotiate, discuss the process and results of joint work.

The implementation of the optional curriculum “Discovery Laboratory” will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
