A contest of initiatives for entrepreneurship development was held in Belarus. A total of 177 applications took part in the contest, and the winners were 8 cluster and 25 socially significant initiatives.
The implementation of cluster initiatives will increase the competitiveness of small businesses in industry and agriculture, wood processing, food production, information technology and tourism. Socially significant initiatives will help solve social problems of vulnerable groups: children with special needs, people with disabilities, young people, women living in rural areas, and others. The winning projects are aimed at the development of women’s social entrepreneurship, creation of children’s inclusive entertainment centers, social adaptation and employment of people with disabilities, development of tourism, creation of IT schools for children and young people. Implementation of such projects will contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 3 “Good Health and Welfare”, 4 “Quality Education”, 5 “Gender Equality”, 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, 10 “Reducing Inequality”, 11 “Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements”, 17 “Partnership for Sustainable Development”.
The contest of initiatives on entrepreneurship development was conducted by the United Nations Development Program in Belarus in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus in the framework of the project “Support to Local Economic Development in Belarus”.
