On April 7-11, 2025 the Youth Festival “Sustainable Development Week” takes place at the EI “Belarusian State University” (BSU).
The Youth Festival is organized to raise awareness among young people about the Sustainable Development Goals and their importance for the economy, engage students in an active discussion on global economic challenges, promote cooperation between students, teachers and experts in the field of international trade and sustainable development.
On April 9, 2025, representatives of the United Nations in the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus visited the BSU Faculty of Economics as part of the Festival.
During the meeting the results and significance of the activities implemented at BSU aimed at creating understanding and popularization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were discussed. Special attention was paid to the role of education in achieving the SDGs.
An open meeting with students was also held. UN Resident Coordinator Rasul Baghirov told them about the UN activities in Belarus. Counselor of the Directorate General of Multilateral Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Nikolayenya told about the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in the context of the 2030 Agenda implementation, national interests and achievements of the Republic of Belarus in this sphere, as well as about international efforts for achieving the SDGs.
After the meeting, the students took part in a thematic quiz on sustainable development and UN activities. The winners got the book “Statute of the United Nations: I Statute of the International Court of Justice”.
Besides speeches of the SDG Youth Ambassadors, representatives of the UN in Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, students will take part in the case-game “Improvement of Belarus in the context of the SDGs”, intellectual game “What? Where? When?” on the topic of the SDGs, summarizing and awarding the winners of the distance contest “Sustainable Future: Your Contribution” and other events on the topic of sustainable development.
