On December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated annually around the world, aimed at drawing attention to the problems of people with disabilities, protecting their rights and integrating them into all aspects of life.
On this day, in all cities and regions of the country, events are held timed to the Day of Disabled Persons: round tables are organized; «Direct lines» on issues of social protection and rehabilitation of persons; charity events; visits to cinemas, exhibitions, sports facilities; thematic meetings are held in cultural institutions, new centers for people with disabilities are opening.
One of these centers is an educational and therapeutic center for children and youth with psychophysical disabilities, which opened in Gomel on the basis of a boarding school for the disabled. The center provides services free of charge and can receive up to 140 people daily. There are several blocks in its structure:
The opening of an educational and therapeutic center for children and youth with psychophysical disabilities provides an opportunity for children and youth with disabilities to develop and take part in all spheres of society, which makes a significant contribution to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 10 and other SDGs by the Republic of Belarus.
