Climate change issues were considered at a meeting of the public coordination environmental council of the Minsk region

On October 9, 2023, an extended on-site meeting of the public coordination environmental council under the Minsk Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection took place.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, public associations, enterprises and organizations of the Minsk region.
During the meeting the following issues were considered:
- improving climate legislation taking into account international trends;
- public participation in making environmentally significant decisions;
- the efficiency of biogas complexes and their contribution to the nationwide reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
- development of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and targets for Belarus to reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
- results of analysis of greenhouse gas emission scenarios in the sector «Agriculture» and proposed sectoral goals for the sector «Agriculture in the updated overall economic goal of the NDC of Belarus until 2035».
Minimizing the impacts of climate change, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13 and other SDGs.
