Digital substation with voltage of 330 kV was opened in Belarus

On November 19, 2021, the opening of the first digital substation of 330 kV voltage class «Mogilev 330» in the republic took place in the Mogilev region.
Substation «Mogilev 330» provides the transit of electrical energy between the Mogilev and Gomel regions in the amount of 1,490 million kWh per year and is one of the largest nodal substations with a voltage of 330 kV.
Modern technologies for processing and collecting information were applied within the framework of the «Mogilev 330» reconstruction project. Modern digital current and voltage transformers, optical cable connections between various devices have been introduced. Wave-based fault locating devices were first used on power lines. The area for equipment has been halved compared to traditional electrical substations of this voltage class.
The use of digital platforms makes it possible to more effectively monitor the state of power grids and eliminate power supply disruptions in the event of their occurrence as soon as possible, and is also one of the most important directions of the Strategy of Informatization and Digital Transformation adopted by the State Enterprise Belenergo until 2025.
It is planned to implement similar projects in the Grodno region and other energy supplying organizations. Digital substations of 110 kV voltage class have already been commissioned.
Modernization of the Mogilev 330 substation has significantly reduced operating and labor costs, improved the reliability of power supply, which is a significant contribution to sustainable economic development, improving the comfort of living for people, as well as achieving Sustainable Development Goals 7, 9, 11, 12 and other SDGs.
