From July 31 to August 2, 2026, the 17th Republican Tourism Gathering “Poleskye Zori” was held in the Gomel Region — the largest inclusive sports and tourism event of the summer for people who use wheelchairs. The organizers were the Mozyr Interdistrict Organization of the Public Association “Republican Association of Wheelchair Users” and the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Belarus.
Over the years, the field camp has been fully adapted to meet the needs of people in wheelchairs: special accessible dry toilets and shower cabins with heated water have been installed, spacious shaded tents have been set up to protect from the sun and rain, and a gentle, fixed ramp has been built, allowing participants to descend to the Pripyat River independently. These measures ensured a comfortable stay and safe participation in the event for all categories of participants.
More than 100 people from various regions of Belarus and Russia took part in the gathering. Over the course of three days, 12 teams competed in darts, archery and pistol shooting, cornhole, shuffleboard, culinary duels, and creative competitions. Water activities were organized for relaxation and active leisure, including kayaking and SUP board riding.
Holding the Republican Tourism Gathering “Poleskye Zori” contributes to the development of inclusive tourism, expands opportunities for active recreation for people with disabilities, strengthens social integration, and promotes the values of a healthy and active lifestyle. It also helps the Republic of Belarus achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 10 and other SDGs.
