By Resolution No. 426 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated August 21, 2026, “On the Master Plans of Cities,” the master plans for Vitebsk, Gomel, and Mogilev were approved.
The master plans define the strategy for the socio‑economic and territorial development of these cities until 2035. In particular, they specify the optimal planning structures and functional zoning, the principles of environmental protection, the directions for the development of the public service system, engineering and transport infrastructure, as well as measures to create a safe, barrier‑free and comfortable urban environment.
In line with the approved master plans, city authorities have begun to carry out detailed work on projects for individual territories and microdistricts. For example, in Vitebsk, the project to regenerate the historical center is already being updated, and a plan for the development of passenger transport is being prepared.
The implementation of the master plans will contribute to the creation of a more sustainable, inclusive, and balanced urban environment, as well as to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 10, 11 and other SDGs.
