People with disabilities are supported in learning a new profession in Belarus

In Belarus, much attention is paid to creating conditions that provide people with disabilities with equal opportunities in using social infrastructure facilities, information and communications, education, employment, etc.

One of the examples is Andrey Volkov, who has been using a wheelchair for over 20 years. A resident of Rosson applied to the regional employment center for help in learning a new profession. He was given the opportunity to be trained as a shoe repair master at the Belarusian Prosthetic and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center. After training, the novice entrepreneur received state support in opening a shoe repair shop in the district center. The funds provided were used to purchase the necessary equipment and tools. In addition to shoes, he learned to repair bags. He mastered the technique of sewing covers for passports and wallets made of genuine leather. He plans to expand the workshop.

The provision of state support in the socialization of people with disabilities makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 8, 10 and other SDGs.
