In December 2021 «Belinvestbank» will launch a project for degassing «Trostenetsky» solid waste landfill and «Trostenets» municipal solid waste landfill near Minsk as part of its «green» policy.
The aim of the project is to efficiently recover and utilize gas that is generated in landfills as a result of decomposition of buried organic waste. Its inevitable release into the atmosphere is accompanied by emissions of polluting organic substances. Landfill gas will be extracted through a system of horizontal drainage channels.
The result of the project implementation is the minimization of the impact of landfills on the environment, a reduction in the formation of a wide range of toxic substances, and a reduction in the proportion of uncontrolled emissions into the atmosphere. Biogas processing will increase the share of renewable energy sources in the country’s energy balance.
The implementation of the project makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of Sustainable Development Goals 7, 9, 12 and others.
