Training on the prevention of noncommunicable diseases was held in Minsk

1 September 2025

The World Health Organization recognizes all deaths before the age of 70 as premature. 8 out of 10 deaths both in the world and in the Republic of Belarus are associated with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) – cardiovascular diseases, oncological diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes.

However, there are effective preventive measures for NCDs. These measures are beyond the competence of medical professionals or only one Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and relate to the regulation of food sales, urban planning and promotion of physical activity, regulation of tobacco and alcohol trafficking, changing people’s behavior in favor of a healthier lifestyle.

To get new knowledge and skills on the theoretical foundations of public health and public health, as well as to discuss the prevention of NCDs, on August 26-30, 2025, a training “Technologies of Public Health Management in the Implementation of the Strategy for Sustainable Development” was held at the Belarusian State Medical University.

The training was organized for heads of healthcare organizations with the support of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus as part of a project “Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs” funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
