In August-September 2025, training sessions for employees of the Gomel railway Station were held in Gomel as part of the SDG pilot initiative \u201cRegional Information Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities \u2013 Assistance in Exercising and Protecting Their Rights\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training sessions were aimed at improving the quality of accompanying passengers with disabilities and creating a more accessible and safer environment at the station. During the training, the staff gained practical knowledge and skills necessary for proper interaction with people with various types of disabilities, including passengers using wheelchairs, canes, hearing aids or other mobility aids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants were also shown tracking algorithms on the territory of the station \u2014 from the entrance group and the ticket area to the platforms and crossings. They practiced actions in situations as close as possible to real conditions, learned how to properly offer assistance, take into account the individual needs of passengers and ensure safety when moving through the station infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A separate section was devoted to the procedures of boarding and disembarking from the train. The station staff studied the rules for using specialized equipment, the procedure for interacting with conductors and train drivers, as well as ways to minimize risks when escorting passengers with reduced mobility. The practical part allowed us to consolidate the skills and increase the confidence of employees in working with various categories of passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conducting such trainings contributes to the formation of an inclusive service culture and increases the accessibility of rail transport for all citizens. The acquired knowledge will help the staff of Gomel railway station to provide more comfortable, safe and respectful travel conditions for each passenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training sessions were organized as part of the SDG pilot initiative \u201cRegional Information Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities \u2013 Assistance in Exercising and Protecting Their Rights\u201d implemented by the Gomel Regional NGO for Disabled Persons with Impaired Musculoskeletal Function \u201cDisabled Persons with Spinal Injurie\u201d with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of Belarus as part of the Joint Project \u201cSupport to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs\u201d<\/a> funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The implementation of the SDG pilot initiative contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 4<\/a>, 8<\/a>, 10<\/a>, 11<\/a> and the other SDGs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
