Unusual inclusive project is being implemented in Verkhnedvinsk

22 July 2025

A pilot project “Creating an inclusive environment” is being implemented in the Department of social rehabilitation, habilitation of persons with disabilities, day care for senior citizens and comprehensive crisis support at the Verkhnedvinsky District Territorial Center for Social Services.

The idea of the project is to create new spaces for the rehabilitation and socialization of the elderly and persons with disabilities and a sports hall.

The first part of the project is a workshop for making donuts. All kitchen appliances and equipment of the mini-donut shop are selected considering that persons with disabilities are involved in cooking. During the 4 months of the project, the workshop has become a favorite place for those staying at the shopping center. They have been preparing theoretically for several days: they study every ingredient, kitchen equipment and appliances, and learn the types of donuts. And only then they get down to business. Everyone has their own responsible area of work.

The second part of the inclusive project, the Living Energy sports club, is very popular among persons with disabilities and people aged 60+. The training programs last 30 minutes and are designed specifically for each group, considering the age and physical abilities of those involved.

The implementation of the project “Creating an inclusive environment” makes an important contribution to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 8, 10 and the other SDGs.
