Youth Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Youth Ambassadors) are the winners of the contest "Youth Ambassadors of the Sustainable Development Goals – Future of the Planet in Our Hands". The SDG Youth Ambassador is a student representative selected to advance the SDGs and guided by the slogan "For a Sustainable Future Together". SDG Youth Ambassadors popularize the SDGs among young people, inform about the mechanisms for achieving sustainable development indicators at the local and national levels, help to acquire knowledge and professional competencies of the XXI century, and master the ideas and principles of sustainable development.
The Goal 1 is the foundation for the implementation of the entire set of the SDG goals. The SDG 1 provides the foundation for further human progress towards sustainable change and well-being for everyone.
The SDG 2 is the important Goal for coverage. It is important not only to develop the agricultural sector in our country, but also to think about the priority of food security. Therefore, the SDG 2 is the Goal about fairness and sound governance.
The SDG 3 is the foundation for a prosperous human existence. Health is what determines how much time we spend with our loved ones, and therefore its importance cannot be underestimated. It is important for people to develop an integrated approach to their health, affecting not only physical, but also social and psychological well-being.
“Quality education” is about giving everyone a chance for quality education, because it opens the way to development and equality.
The Sustainable Development The Goals are a global action plan. Each of the 17 Goals is important. They work as a single system. Gender equality is an element without which success is impossible. Everyone should have equal chances and opportunities. For me, this is an opportunity to work on creating a society where the potential of every person, regardless of gender, can be fully realized.
The SDG 6 is the Goal aimed at upholding the inalienable rights of every human being. Water is an element that provides conditions for the functioning of society, medicine, agriculture, industry, and the economy. Sanitation is a tool to achieve the SDG 6 by protecting society from disease through information and material provision. It is impossible to achieve the Goal without solving one part of it.
The SDG 7 is a ticket to a future in which I am not just a spectator. This is a chance to build a career in the green economy. And this is a question of justice: why should generations pay for the energy debt that they did not take?
“Decent Work and Economic growth” is the Goals where a healthy business creates a healthy space around itself. Entrepreneurs can develop their social responsibility, while clients should more often support entrepreneurs’ aspirations in this.
“Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” is an opportunity to develop, be ready for new challenges and be creative in solving problems in the modern world. For me, the SDGs are an opportunity to implement the most useful and ambitious projects on a global and local level.
Reducing inequality is an opportunity to give hope to those, give us all more opportunities, and bring us all closer together. It is important that people understand, no matter what social group they belong to, what wealth they have, whether they have a disability or not. They have equal opportunities with those with more resources or with those who are much higher than them in the social ladder. The SDG 10 is a ray of opportunity for all of us.
Today, the vast majority of cities have the infrastructure necessary for a comfortable life. Therefore, today a sustainable city is not only about infrastructure, but about its residents, who together create a successful tomorrow. To achieve this Goal, it is necessary to hold events that will unite and unite people, then we will be able to say with confidence that a sustainable tomorrow awaits us!
“Responsible Consumption and Production” is an opportunity to influence our future, it means a personal choice: my conscious step today. For the 2030 Agenda as a whole, this Goal is an important element linking economics, ecology and social justice. If implemented correctly, we can see a future where economic growth does not lead to the destruction of nature. Achieving the SDG 12 will make it possible to use resources efficiently, reduce poverty, and build a green economy.
Climate change is one of the most serious challenges for life on Earth today. In this context, the SDG 13 is like a shield that protects the planet, uniting people’s efforts for one thing — to preserve a sustainable future. This Goal is of particular importance for Belarus. Maintaining the status of “Green Belarus” is both a responsibility and a source of special pride. After all, today we are laying the foundation for what kind of legacy we will leave to our descendants — clean, vibrant, sustainable. SDG 13 is a path of conscious choice: to live in such a way that harmony between man and nature is not a dream, but has become the norm.
“Life below Water” is the implementation of important actions to preserve aquatic ecosystems, as well as the oceans. This is a Goal to make our rivers and coastal territories cleaner, to tell the population about how important it is to protect rivers. The SDG 13 achievement is not a separate task, but a prerequisite for success in building a sustainable future as a whole.
The preservation of terrestrial ecosystems is more than just a goal, it is a call for responsibility and care, it is a reminder that man is an ally of nature. It is a space that fills, calms and inspires. It is important to protect the ecosystem of the land that we have now and take care of it all together in order to continue to maintain the status of the achieved goal. “Life on Land” is a contribution to the future, so that our descendants can live in a green, clean environment, see and know the multifaceted biodiversity that we must preserve and enhance. The Sustainable Development Goals are the fundamental foundation that needs to be achieved for a more favorable existence on planet Earth! Every Goal is an important aspect in creating an intelligent, healthy, and wealthy nation. By joining forces, we will be able to achieve success in our tasks and make a huge contribution to the development of our strong state!
“Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” is the fruit of peaceful values: Laws and institutions live not so much on paper as in the hearts and minds of young people. The Sustainable Development Goals should illuminate the path to law, because law is not a set of limitations, but a space of new opportunities.
The SDG 17 reminds each of us that not only are people unique and exceptional, but every country is one. There are people in every person’s life who are ready to help us in a difficult moment and share the joys of success with us.
