    CONTENTS OF THE ACTIVITY

The initiative is aimed at creating an inclusive society where every person has equal opportunities and rights. The main goals of the initiative included the development of everyday adaptable vests for children with special needs filled with movable weight bags and improving product quality and availability. Vests have the ability to regulate their weight, that allows them to be adapted to the individual requirements of each child. The number of weights can be set individually depending on height and correction goals. These weighted vests help children better feel the boundaries of their own body, calm down, relieve anxiety and concentrate.

    KEY STEPS OF IMPLEMENTATION:

    • Focus on the needs of children with special needs. Conducting an in-depth study of the needs of children with special needs with the involvement of art therapists and psychologists.
    • Innovative design. Development of the concept of adaptable vests as an alternative to traditional special clothing. This made it possible to present an innovative solution with a high potential for demand.
    • Use of innovations. Purchase and use of high-tech equipment for embroidery, quilting and other necessary processes to improve product quality and facilitate the production process.
    • Testing and feedback. Conducting tests in families and boarding homes to collect feedback to ensure that vests are highly appropriate for the needs of each child.

RESULTS AND IMPACT OF THE INITIATIVE

Stylish vests that can be adapted to different functions, from special uniforms to everyday school uniforms, were developed. As a result, children with special needs have access to multifunctional clothing that helps them feel comfortable in everyday life.

In plans is to develop a series of additional products and adaptive solutions for children with special needs. These products include sensory bags to stimulate tactile sensations, colored parachutes for group exercises and motor skills development, special aprons with pockets for parents and tutors, clothing and footwear with a simplified fastener system. Additionally, the development of educational and developmental games that help improve cognitive functions is in plans.

Despite limited commercial potential, the initiative has high social significance. The products created by Yulia’s workshop are aimed at improving the quality of life of children with special needs and has a direct impact on their well-being. Adaptive products like these promote inclusion and make everyday tasks easier for children and their families.
