State program “Energy saving” for 2021-2025 is approved

The State program “Energy saving” for 2021-2025 was approved by the decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus № 103 of February 24, 2021. The purpose of the State program is to increase the efficiency of the production sphere of the national economy and strengthen the energy security of the country.

The State program consists of two subprograms: “Improving Energy Efficiency” and “Developing the Use of Local Fuel and Energy Resources, including Renewable Energy Sources.” Among the planned activities are: introducing modern energy efficient technologies, energy saving equipment, devices and materials; increasing the energy facilities efficiency, construction, reconstruction and modernization of energy sources using technological equipment operating on renewable energy sources. It is also planned to reduce dependence on hydrocarbon raw materials and increase the use of local fuels.

The expansion of infrastructure and modernization of technologies for a modern and sustainable energy supply is an important contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7, “Affordable and Clean Energy”.
