In 2027, it is planned to install about 500 vandal-proof containers for collecting glass waste in Minsk. The new containers will expand the infrastructure of separate collections and increase the efficiency of recycling secondary resources.
Currently, about 20 such containers have been installed in Minsk. Bottles, cans, glassware, and broken tar glass can be thrown into them. The main feature of the design is a special receiving compartment. It is made so that everything that gets inside the container can no longer be retrieved. Due to this, the containers are called vandal-proof: they help prevent people from trying to remove the collected glass.
In total, over 6.3 tons of glass were collected and recycled in the capital in the first six months of 2026. The raw materials come in pure form, which allows them to be transferred directly to JSC Belvtorresursy without additional sorting. It is expected that the volume of glass collection will increase, including through the installation of more anti-vandal containers, which will have a positive impact on the environmental situation in the city.
To improve the quality of service, a new garbage truck was purchased, and it is also planned to purchase 14 more units of equipment, which will improve the stability of the fleet and reduce the percentage of vehicle failures. Thus, the volume of municipal solid waste transported in the first six months of 2026 amounted to 1,372 million cubic meters. The projected volume of transportation for the whole of 2026 is about 2.744 million cubic meters.
In addition, the state-owned enterprise “Spetskommunavtotrans”, which provides waste collection and disposal in six districts of Minsk, has introduced a new transport control system. It allows you to track drivers’ routes and optimize logistics, reducing fuel consumption and reducing travel time.
Improving the efficiency of waste management contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 11, 12, 13 and other SDGs.
