On May 5, 2026, in the Rossonsky district of the Vitebsk region, as part of the Rays of Hope tourist rally for people with disabilities, the inclusive ecological trail “Journey into Nature without Barriers” was opened.
The 6-kilometer-long ecological trail begins near the ECO-ROSA GPU environmental education center and passes through a specially protected natural area. It offers an educational and playful format for exploring the nature of Belarus. There are 17 themed stops along the route with interactive tasks, educational stands and recreation areas. Guests can take an eco-trail with special traveler’s passport, complete tasks and collect marks, which makes the walk interesting for adults and children.
Special attention is paid to accessibility: part of the route is specially adapted for people with disabilities and considers the needs of visitors with impaired musculoskeletal system, visually impaired or blind, hearing impaired, as well as for people with autism spectrum disorder. Tactile and sensory elements, information stands with Braille duplication have been installed here, and infrastructure has been created for comfortable and safe movement, including safe descent to the water.
The opening of the ecotrail was a clear result of the joint work of national and international partners aimed at developing eco-tourism in Belarus and creating a modern and accessible tourist infrastructure in specially protected natural areas. The implementation of the initiative contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 4, 5, 10, 15, 17 and the other SDGs.
The ecological trail “Journey into Nature without Barriers” was created within the project “Ecotourism Development to Promote Green Transition to Inclusive and Sustainable Growth”, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Belarus in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus with financial support from the Russian Federation.
