On January 17, 2025, the workshop “Presentation of the Pilot Initiative “Regional Information Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities – Assistance in Exercising and Protecting Their Rights” was held on the basis of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee.
The event was attended by representatives of the departments of labor, employment and social protection, as well as social protection institutions of the Gomel region. The connection was carried out both in face-to-face format and via videoconference, which allowed for the broad participation of specialists from the regions of the region.
During the workshop, the goals, objectives and key directions of the SDG pilot initiative aimed at creating a single information resource center for people with disabilities were presented. Special attention was paid to improving the availability of legal, social and advisory support, as well as the formation of mechanisms that contribute to the more effective implementation and protection of citizens’ rights.
The participants were presented with the activities planned as part of the SDG pilot initiative, including the development of information services, the expansion of advisory capabilities and the strengthening of interagency cooperation. It was noted that the initiative is intended to become an important tool in improving the quality of services provided and creating conditions for more active participation of people with disabilities in society.
All those present were invited to cooperate and participate in the further implementation of the pilot initiative on the SDGs, which will ensure an integrated and sustainable approach to the development of a support system for people with disabilities in the Gomel region.
The SDG pilot initiative “Regional Information Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities – Assistance in Exercising and Protecting Their Rights” implemented by the Gomel Regional NGO for Disabled Persons with Impaired Musculoskeletal Function “Disabled Persons with Spinal Injurie” with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of Belarus as part of the Joint Project “Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs” funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The implementation of the SDG pilot initiative contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, 10, 11 and the other SDGs.
