On September 26, 2025, the winners of the contest ” The Most Successful Person with Disabilities in Gomel Region – 2025″ were selected in Gomel, who made a significant contribution to the development of an inclusive environment in the region. The winners were determined in 15 nominations. Among those mentioned are dedicated professionals, talented artists, outstanding athletes, active public figures and modern bloggers, each of whom contributes to the development of an inclusive society and inspires others.
Lyudmila Boldueva, Deputy Chairperson of the Gomel Regional organization of the NGO BELTIZ, was selected in the “Accessible Environment” nomination for her significant contribution to the development of barrier-free space and the introduction of innovative solutions. Due to her active work in Gomel and the region, modern accessible infrastructure has been created in a number of clinics, call centers, courts and residential areas – this is a systematic, consistent activity, not one—time initiatives.
Sergey Demidov, veteran of Gomselmash, was selected in the “Dedicated to the Profession” nomination for his many years of work, active citizenship and contribution to the organization of leisure activities for people with hearing impairment.
Svetlana Gerashchenko, administrator of the Gomel Regional Center for Inclusive Culture, was named the winner in the “Labor Adaptation” nomination. She actively develops in professional and social activities, helps in organizing events and brings up three children. In 2025, Svetlana became one of the finalists of the inclusive project “Confident”.
Oksana Petrushenko, native of Gomel region, an Honored Master of Sports in swimming, multiple champion of the Deflympic Games, the world and Europe, and a member of the national team of Belarus, was chosen the winner in the “Sports Olympus” nomination. At the XXV Summer Deflympic Games in Tokyo, she once again confirmed her high level by winning gold in the 100 and 200 meters breaststroke.
Veronika Slezenko, athlete and student of the Gomel Regional Olympic Reserve Center in Paralympic and Deflympic sports, was selected in the “Discovery of the Year” nomination. For her bright start, high results and dedication, she received a diploma from the Regional Executive Committee of the Department of Sports and Tourism.
The contest “The Most Successful Person with Disabilities in Gomel Region – 2025” was held as part of the SDG pilot initiative “Regional Information Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities – Assistance in Exercising and Protecting Their Rights” implemented by the Gomel Regional NGO for Disabled Persons with Impaired Musculoskeletal Function “Disabled Persons with Spinal Injurie” with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of Belarus as part of the Joint Project “Support to the Efforts of the Republic of Belarus in Nationalization and Localization of SDGs” funded by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The implementation of the SDG pilot initiative contributes to the achievement by the Republic of Belarus of the Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, 10, 11 and the other SDGs.
